osteopathy
Osteopathy is a gentle, safe and effective manual therapy that works with the understanding that the structure of the body will govern its function. The aim is to restore balance to the body which in turn will produce optimal function, health, and wellbeing. Osteopathy is a truly holistic approach to the body. A full body assessment is included with each treatment and all systems of the body are observed and taken into consideration. The assessment continues throughout each treatment and is why most treatments require the patient to wear comfortable clothing as they may be required to move into different positions or on/off the table. The global assessment aims to make many interconnections in the body to allow the treatment to be as effective as possible.

Manual Osteopathy
During the assessment the Osteopathic Practitioner will try to find areas of restriction/dysfunction and then will organize these areas into level of severity. We may find an area of dysfunction that seems unrelated to symptoms (this area may be asymptomatic) but treatment may allow access to other areas of the body and ultimately will produce long lasting results.
There are a wide variety of techniques that can suit any age or body type; a newborn to a senior or anyone in-between. Types of techniques that are used include visceral manipulation, craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, muscle energy technique, osteoarticular manipulation, etc.
Paediatrics
Working with infants and children is a focus of a few of our therapists. When you are matched with an RMT or Osteopath that works with this age group, it is because they are able to assess and treat, with great gentleness, some common presentations of colic, plagiocephaly, constipation, sleep issues, latching issues and more. We often receive referals from doctors, other RMT’s and lactation consultants for our expertise. We always do our best to get to know your child and connect with them so that they feel comfortable before we do any hands on treatment and the parent is always present. Infants are often asleep during the treatment but can be held or nursed if ever needed. Infant and children respond particularly well to the Craniosacral and Visceral Manipulation techniques.
